Martin Roy, businessman, racecar driver and team owner
Businessman from Napierville, QC, Martin Roy has been successful in a handful of different industries over the past 20 years. He has owned over 10 companies in various fields, from print media to commercial real estate.
Martin Roy has also a passion for car racing and motor sports. He founded his own NASCAR team, King Autosport, and knows success in two series. King Autosport became the first all-Quebecer team to win the championship in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series with the driver LP Dumoulin. Over all, King Autosport and Martin Roy race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (ex-Nationwide) and impresses the NASCAR officials with their professionalism and experience, ever though the team has limited budgets compared to top-runners teams. NASCAR authorities gave to Roy his full NASCAR Xfinity license, allowing him to compete a full-season in the prestigious series in 2015.
Martin Roy is also known in Quebec for his successes as a racecar driver. For almost 30 years, he has raced on clay and on asphalt, on road courses as well as on ovals. From karting and dirt tracks to NASCAR, he has many wins and championship titles to his name: First in the Canadian and Autodrome Drummond Champion, Driver of the Year and Mr Modified 2005, twice champion of the Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, VT, as well as NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Rookie of the Year 2012. He now competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He wants his team, King Autosport, to race full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2015, and aims at another championship title in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
